چکیده
Hydrologic processes in depression-dominated areas are controlled by the spatial distribution of surface depressions and their dynamic hydrologic connectivity. Existing models often utilize lumped ways to handle depressions, hence features lost this simplification process. In study, a unique watershed-scale, semi-distributed model accounting for connectivity (HYDROL-DC) is developed functionalities runoff generation respectively quantified introducing two concepts depression impact coefficient connected area. Unlike other models, new modeling framework proposed HYDROL-DC facilitate separate puddle-based units, off-stream channel-based on-stream units each subbasin. was applied Edmore Coulee watershed North Dakota. The results showed that significantly influenced capacities were mainly dominated storages distributions depressions. subbasin with similar storage, depending on fully-filled varied within range. With increase variation range exhibited progressive hierarchical pattern. Additionally, “blocked” pathways water from activated topographic associated outlet subbasin, such “blocking” function became significant as more fully filled.

Geographically isolated wetlands (GIW), depressional landscape features entirely surrounded by upland areas, provide a wide range of ecological functions and ecosystem services for humanwell-being. Current and future ecosystem management and decision-making rely on a solid scientific understanding of how hydrologic processes affect these important GIW services and functions, and in turn on how ...

Remote Sensing of Impervious Surface Area for Improved Hydrologic Modeling
Impervious surface area (ISA), one of the consequences of urban development, has been used as an important indicator for environmental impacts of urbanization. In this study, we extracted ISA information for the state of Rhode Island, USA from 1-m spatial resolution true-color digital orthophotography data by an object-based classification. As the importance of ISA in the watersheds hydrology, ...
متن کاملSurface Runoff in Watershed Modeling—Turbulent or Laminar Flows?
Determination of overland sheet flow depths, velocities and celerities across the hillslope in watershed modeling is important towards estimation of surface storage, travel times to streams and soil detachment rates. It requires careful characterization of the flow processes. Similarly, determination of the temporal variation of hillslope-riparian-stream hydrologic connectivity requires estimat...

[1] A distributed physically based model incorporating novel approaches for the representation of surface-subsurface processes and interactions is presented. A path-based description of surface flow across the drainage basin is used, with several options for identifying flow directions, for separating channel cells from hillslope cells, and for representing stream channel hydraulic geometry. La...
